Military oath at Pori Brigade

I was kindly asked to read the military oath to the young soldiers at Pori Brigade. By taking this oath they all were promoted to privates. There were about 1000 voices repeating the oath according to my reading.

By reading the oath it made me understand, how important words they were. Our grand parents had to fulfil this oath in action in the world wars. Thanks to them, we were standing on the ground of our own country.

The oath included very important rules for the life generally, as well. Basis is you should do your job as well as you can and you should take the other people into the consideration. And when being a foreman you appreciate your fellow workers and treat everyone well and equally.

These basic teamwork rules go in every team. Not only in the army. Very good rules for Top Fuel team, as well.

It is not only the defense these young soldiers are experiencing there in the army. There is plenty more. How to work in a unit, to take orders and to give orders, active outside life, life among the group and so on.

Every now and then there are heated discussion, if the army should be voluntary. I feel all the other values, beside of defense actions, are very important, as well, for young men and women, that Finland should keep existing system valid.

One brand new private Juuso Koskinen got a special award, a medal for Military Merits, for saving a man´s life in a fire. He represents such a behaviour and skills, which the army is definitely supporting.

I´m for army and I do wish our son will be reading his oath one day.

It was a great honor to me to read the oath. I appreciated this task very highly. Thank you, Pori Brigade, for inviting me. Even the cold weather didn´t spoil my day.

AT THE STARLINE

Maybe I'm a bit ahead, but my thoughts are already in the next season. I have a problem. I have many guys in my team. Hard workers. When it is our turn to run, I can take only 6 to the starting area. It is horrible to leave some of them at the pit. I would like to have them all at the starting area, when I run to joy after a good run and to sorrow after a bad run. I do understand the limit of the area, but what can we do? All my guys are dressed up in team uniform, they come around the car and they´ll leave immediately after my run. How could we do this? Please, every race director, have a thought, how this would be possible next year. It is very important for the team spirit and because nobody gets paid, it is a hobby for all of us. The moment of the start line is the reward of all the work. And everybody´s work is as important.

My idea about teams at the starting area is as below
