It is pretty rare to get into a Nitro Funny Car here in Europe. But Thanks to Bob Jarrett and John Spuffard who made it possible for Tommi to drive the Showtime Mustang, the fastest Funny Car in Europe. It was an exciting day for Tommi. Actually he couldn´t eat anything the whole day. Just concentrating on the experience that was to come. Tommi´s run went well. John guided Tommi thru warmup procedure and gave Tommi a lot of advice, how the car would behave and what to expect. The burnout was smooth and straight. Bob said afterward it could have been a bit longer to warm up the engine some more. The car had the same setup than John would race. It launced hard but went into tireshake after 100m, which forced Tommi to lift up the pedal. However, the 60ft time of 0,91 was nice. After the run Tommi said the Funny Car felt more violent than the dragster with the chassis reacting immediately to stearing input. Tommi liked this! And all this leaves Tommi wanting more.... Tommi says he really respects Nitro Funny Car drivers! Once again, thank you Bob, John, Lee, Bill, Nigel, Dan, Steve, Paul and all the others! |
